Meanwhile that the 2019 year is ending, in this last post for this year, we would like to share with you some practical and reliable tips.
1. Overtime working hours
For an effective workload management on these last days of the year, it might be necessary to ask your employees to work overtime.
Hence, it is advisable to control the maximum number of overtime working hours that your employees have done during 2019 , and to check that it is conform to the provisions set in the collective agreement or individual agreement.
Accordingly to Labor Code , article 90, first paragraph, the maximum number of overtime working hours should not be more than 200 hours per year , except for the cases when as a result of force major or urgent needs , an authorization is issued from the Labor Inspectorate.
2. End of year reward
The end of the year is the best time to thank your employees for their dedication and to make them feel part of the success of the company.
This can be reflected in the form of promotions, performance bonuses accordingly to your internal policies and regulations, or by means of the end of the year reward.
Article 114/1 of Labor code provides that: If the parties agree, the employer gives to the employee a special reward in addition to his/her salary at the end of the year, taking full consideration of the quality of his/her work and the economic performance of the enterprise.
3.Official Holidays and days of annual leave
Accordingly to the calendar of official holidays published each year at the official gazette, the dates 25th of December and dates 1 and 2 January 2020 are official holidays.
For the work done on the official holidays, there are specific provisions in Labor Code (article 86 and 87).
Also,please make sure that the employees have already taken their days of the annual vacations pertaining to year 2019 .
Accordingly to Labor Code , article 93/3 the annual vacations shall be granted during the working year or until the end of the first quarter of the following year, but shall never be less than one calendar week without interruption. The annual vacations shall not be replaced by payment, except for the cases when the work relations have terminated and the employee has not consumed the vacations.
4. Updates and changes in legislation
Make sure to revise and update your company’s regulations, policies, employment contracts (collective and individual), and any other agreements that might be affected due to any new law or recent change in the legislation.
